GOP ad uses Dems to knock Crist

Florida Gov. Rick Scott is wasting no time going after former Gov. Charlie Crist as he prepares to enter the governor’s race as a Democrat.

Scott’s political committee, Let’s Get to Work, is releasing an ad that will begin airing Monday, which uses past statements from Florida Democrats slamming Crist, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

{mosads}Crist, who once was governor of Florida as a Republican, will officially enter the governor’s race Monday as a Democrat, after filing the necessary paperwork on Friday. He ran for Senate in 2010 as an independent after losing the GOP primary to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

The spot quotes five Democrats, including Alex Sink, who lost the 2010 governor’s race to Scott, Rep. Kendrick Meek (Fla.) and former Vice President Al Gore.

“He can’t be trusted,” Meek is quoted as saying in the ad.

“He failed to layout a business plan to get Florida out of its worst recession,” Sink said.

“It’s a little unusual to have someone flip-flop and… then flop-flip,” Gore said.

Crist’s announcement he will challenge Scott has been widely expected, and early polling has shown him leading in a matchup against the Florida governor, whose approval rating has dropped.
