Biden to campaign for Rep. Grayson

Vice President Biden will campaign for controversial Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) next week in Florida.

Biden will attend an event on Monday for the first-term Democratic lawmaker, who’s made waves during his term in Congress by taking outspoken liberal stances on issues.

Biden will attend a reception on Monday for Grayson following a speech at a conference for the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Orlando.

The event will Biden’s 99th event on behalf of candidates this year. He’ll attend his 100th event the same day after traveling to New Hampshire and campaigning on behalf of Ann McLane Kuster, the Democratic candidate in the state’s 2nd congressional district.

The stop on behalf of Grayson reflects the tight nature of the liberal’s race against Republican Daniel Webster. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the race as “lean Republican,” in no small part due to Grayson’s outspoken time in Congress.

He had said Republicans’ plans for health reform is for sickly patients to “die quickly,” and launched an add against his opponent, calling him “Taliban Dan.”

Still, a win for Grayson would go a long way toward Democrats’ effort to stave off the net loss of 39 seats that would hand control of the House to Republicans, and make GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) the speaker of the House.
