Rep. Bachmann asks for $24K to send Bill Clinton a ‘message’

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) is using Bill Clinton’s recent comments about her at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland to raise campaign funds.

The former president singled out Bachmann for using rhetoric that is “divorced from reality” in her response to President Obama’s State of the Union address last month.

{mosads}”Like Michele Bachmann said in her Tea Party response to President Obama, ‘everybody knows we have the greatest healthcare system in the world,'” said Clinton. “That is factually untrue.

“So what I think America needs as much as anything else is to stop conducting its politics in a parallel universe divorced from reality with no facts.”

Bachmann shot back, “The fact is that we have seen President Obama and his liberal allies push for socialist policies that are bankrupting our nation.”

She noted that Clinton had helped raise money for Democrat Tarryl Clark, her 2010 challenger.

“I want you to help me send a message to Bill Clinton that, despite his continued efforts, I’m not going to be defeated,” Bachmann wrote to her supporters Monday.

“Will you help me raise $24,000 online in the next 24 hours to send this message loud and clear to Bill Clinton and any other liberal who has their target directed at me?”

Bachmann reported having $1,870,869 in the bank as of Dec. 31, according to her Federal Election Commission report.
