Potential Georgia Senate candidate Nunn attends DSCC fundraiser with Obama
{mosads}According to pool reports, Nunn attended the fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee this weekend, along with DSCC Chairman Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil.
Nunn, a businesswoman and daughter of former Sen. Sam Nunn, D-Ga., is a favorite of Democrats, and recent reports have indicated she’s leaning towards a bid. The DSCC declined to comment on her attendance at the fundraiser.
Democrats face a daunting map in 2014, with six incumbents retiring, many from red states. Republicans, in their pursuit of the six seats they’d need to flip control of the upper chamber, could take only states President Obama lost in 2012 and succeed.
Democrats face few offensive opportunities of their own this cycle. But Bennet, in his introduction at the Sunday fundraiser, said that “Georgia provides us with the greatest opportunity for a pickup” in 2014.
Republicans already have a crowded primary field, with four candidates — including Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey, Jack Kingston and former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel — launching bids.
