Democrats launch new outside group to focus on House races
Also on board are former DCCC finance director Nicole Runge and former DCCC spokesman Ryan Rudominer.
“The House Majority PAC is committed to building a long-term organization that can take on the Republican outside groups in the battle for the House Majority,” Lapp said in a statement announcing the formation of the group Wednesday. “We will hold Republicans incumbents and candidates accountable for their policies that take our country in the wrong direction.”
Democrats need a net gain of 25 seats to take back the majority in the House next year.
The new House-focused group joins a growing list of Democratic outside groups that hope to exert a major impact in 2012 and combat the millions that conservative groups are promising to spend this cycle.
Activist David Brock has formed his own high-profile group titled American Bridge, with the goal of competing directly with American Crossroads and other outside conservative groups at the presidential level.
Another group of Democratic strategists have formed a “Super PAC” to focus on Senate races in 2012, which will be headed by the former executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
