Eric Cantor gets a Tea Party challenger

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) will have a Tea Party challenge to his reelection. 

“I want to be Eric Cantor’s term limit,” Randolph-Macon College economics Professor David Brat tells National Review.

{mosads}Cantor hasn’t faced a tough primary since he narrowly won the GOP nomination in 2000; he won his 2012 primary with nearly 80 percent of the vote. But Brat might have more financial resources than Cantor’s previous opponents. He is close with John Allison, the head of the libertarian CATO Institute and a former CEO at BB&T Bank.

Brat says he’s been meeting with national conservative groups, though he wouldn’t say who. He took shots at Cantor for backing the bipartisan budget deal brokered by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), and said the majority leader hasn’t fought hard enough to undercut ObamaCare.
