Boehner to fundraise for AZ House candidates
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ariz.) is headed to Arizona to raise funds for two Republican House candidates in top-targeted races — Andy Tobin, challenging Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D), and Martha McSally, challenging Rep. Ron Barber (D).
{mosads}An invitation states attendees can pay $500 for access to a luncheon and $10,400 for access to both the luncheon and a roundtable discussion. The proceeds will benefit a joint fundraising committee for both Tobin and McSally.
While McSally is the clear Republican pick to take on Barber, with whom she’s seeking a rematch of their razor-thin 2012 contest, Tobin, a state representative, is facing two other Republicans in the GOP primary for Kirkpatrick’s seat.
But Tobin has led the GOP field in fundraising and has already been highlighted by the National Republican Congressional Committee as a top-performing candidate. Boehner’s support is the latest indication he’s pulling ahead of the pack.
