Biden stumps for Dem in San Diego
Vice President Biden campaigned for Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.) in San Diego Saturday with a speech touting Democrats’ commitment to the middle class.
Biden spoke for 22 minutes before nearly 400 of Peters’ supporters in Kearny Mesa, a community in east San Diego, according to a White House pool report.
{mosads}”The reason why it’s so critical that Scott go back, that we retain the Senate, is we have to deal the middle class back in,” Biden said. “The middle class is what built this country.”
Peters faces a challenge from former San Diego Councilman Carl DeMaio, a Republican. DeMaio’s campaign told reporters that Biden’s stump speech shows Peters is a “rubber-stamp” for the Obama administration.
Biden is due to campaign for more Democrats in Las Vegas later Saturday, according to reports. He was in San Diego on Friday night for a private dinner in the tony neighborhood of La Jolla.
