Report: Rep. Fitzpatrick to retire

Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) won’t run for another term in office, opening up a swing district for the 2016 elections.

{mosads}Fitzpatrick, long a proponent of term limits, announced in his victory speech on Thursday that this will be his last term in Congress.

“I made that commitment six years ago,” Fitzpatrick said, according to the Bucks County Times. “I believe in term limits. There are many in Bucks County who want to serve and they should have the opportunity to do that.”

Fitzpatrick easily defeated Army Veteran Kevin Strouse (D) last week and has proven tough to defeat for Democrats since he won back his seat in 2010. But his retirement could create a competitive race in his suburban Philadelphia district.
