The Republican committee that supports House candidates will announce today its best six-month fundraising cycle in the group’s history.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), boosted by the fundraising efforts of House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), raised $47.6 million between January and the end of June, an official said.
{mosads}The committee raised $9.3 million in June.
The NRCC will announce that it has raised $109.9 million so far during the 2016 campaign cycle, its best 18-month haul since 2004, according to The Hill’s analysis of Federal Election Commission records.
The GOP House committee will also report $63.3 million on hand, beating its previous record by $13.5 million, an NRCC official said.
The committee will report that it has no debt.
There are two main reasons why the NRCC is having such an extraordinary fundraising cycle, sources say.
A top GOP fundraiser familiar with the committee said that many major Republican donors are still refusing to support the presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump, and so are looking for alternative venues for their cash.
Saving the Republican House and Senate majorities have become the new urgent cause for many these donors.
The other factor has been Ryan’s energetic fundraising, fueled by the national profile he gained as Mitt Romney’s running mate during the 2012 presidential race.
