DCCC raises $6.1M in May
{mosads}An aide to the committee said it was their best-ever May in a non-election year. The DCCC also paid down $2 million in debt, bringing its remaining debt to be paid to $2.1 million.
Overall, this year the committee has raised $34.1 million, with $7.3 million coming in online donations, which are typically in the low double-digits.
The Democratic committee, despite being in the minority in the House, has consistently outraised its Republican counterpart in the first few months of the year. The National Republican Congressional Committee has yet to release its fundraising figures.
President Obama has lent his star-power to the committee this cycle, appearing at numerous fundraisers for the House Democrats. In May, he headlined two fundraisers for the committee in Chicago.
Obama has, at many of those fundraisers, pledged to help the DCCC take back control of the House. But Democrats will need to pick up 17 seats to achieve that goal, daunting math for the party heading into 2014.
