AFL-CIO launches ‘Koch sisters’ campaign
The AFL-CIO wants voters to know there are plenty of Kochs out there who aren’t conservative billionaires.
{mosads}The union is launching a “Koch sisters” campaign highlighting a pair of middle-class women with the last name Koch to fire back at their more famous namesakes, David and Charles Koch.
“We’re not actually biological sisters, but we are sisters in spirit. And we’re not related to the Koch brothers, those right-wing billionaires,” Joyce and Karen Koch say in the ad. “We don’t have billions to spend on political campaigns, but we do have our convictions and our voices. We think that’s important.”
The effort seems to be aimed at growing the group’s email list as much as attacking the Kochs and outside spending by wealthy contributors. The campaign focuses on asking people to sign on to the effort at a new website. The group is airing ads on CNN and MSNBC touting the push.
