Poll finds Obama and Romney virtually tied in Ohio

{mosads}The findings come amid a slew of polls revealing a tightening of the presidential race, with a handful of national surveys showing Romney moving into the lead.

The new Survey USA poll’s findings and other surveys with similar results were taken after the first presidential debate in Denver a week ago. Romney is considered the winner of the debate.

On who would do better with handling the federal budget, Romney leads Obama 47 percent to 42 percent, the poll found. But on who is more in touch with the regular Americans, 52 percent of voters picked Obama while 37 percent picked Romney.

A CNN poll released Tuesday afternoon found Obama’s lead had slipped to 4 percentage points in Ohio. That poll found Obama leading Romney 51 percent to 47 percent among likely voters and 53 percent to 43 among registered voters.

The new Survey USA poll interviewed 808 likely and actual voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The poll was conducted from Oct. 5 to Oct. 8.
