Poll shows Menendez on thin ice in NJ
{mosads}President Obama’s name on the ticket also won’t be of much relief to Menendez, either. Obama’s 52 percent disapproval in New Jersey is his lowest ever in the poll, and voters are mixed on whether he deserves reelection.
Two powerhouses in the state Senate, Sens. Joseph Kyrillos (R) and Michael Doherty (R), have been floated as possible contenders to take on Menendez, but neither has officially declared a run. Kyrillos chaired Christie’s gubernatorial campaign and is one of his staunchest allies in the Senate.
But Menendez is an experienced fundraiser and led Democratic campaign efforts in the Senate during the 2010 election, in which the Democrats narrowly held on to control of the Senate.
The poll of 1,186 New Jersey voters was conducted Oct. 5-10 and had a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.
