Poll: Republicans edge Democrats on economy
Voters give Republicans the edge on handling the economy, which they consider the top election issue this year, a Gallup poll released Tuesday suggests.
Nearly 90 percent of voters rate the economy as an extremely or very important issue.
The poll found 48 percent said Republicans could do the best job handling the economy, while 43 percent said Democrats could do it better.

Democrats have an 8-percentage-point advantage on the Affordable Care Act and a 10-percentage-point lead on wealth inequality.
The survey found Republicans have a perceived advantage on handling foreign affairs. Democrats received more support for their handling of immigration, global warming and same-sex marriage.
The poll surveyed 1,336 voters from April 23-30 and has a 3-percentage-point margin of error.
