“He is strong in his geographic base, and his lead among key turnout groups in Republican primaries is also solid,” Republican pollster Glen Bolger of Public Opinion Strategies wrote in a polling memo.
But the internal poll should be taken with a grain of salt: Bolger polled just 300 likely Republican voters, leading to a higher-than-normal margin of error of plus or minus 5.7 percentage points.
The poll was conducted Jan. 18-19 using telephone surveys.
