Polls: Romney and Santorum tight in Arizona and Michigan

{mosads}With less than two weeks before voters head to the polls for the Feb. 28 primaries, Romney leads in Arizona and Santorum leads in Michigan, but neither candidate has been able to pull away from the other.

Mitt Romney is at 39 percent in Arizona, followed by Santorum at 31 percent, according to the latest survey from conservative polling outlet Rasmussen. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul close out the field at 15 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

Romney was crushing the field in Arizona at 48 percent in a Rasmussen poll taken earlier this month, while Santorum was stuck in third at 13 percent, but that was before Santorum’s surprising three-state caucus sweep in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

An American Research Group poll released Wednesday showed similar numbers for Arizona, with Romney leading Santorum 38 percent to 31 percent.

But the story is different in Michigan, where Romney at one point seemed destined to cruise to an easy victory on the strength of his close family ties to the state.

An ARG poll released Friday showed Santorum in the lead with 37 percent, followed by Romney at 32 percent, Paul at 15 percent and Gingrich at 10 percent.

Santorum led Romney 33 percent to 27 percent in the same poll last week.

A Rasmussen poll released Thursday showed similar but slightly closer results, with Santorum leading Romney 35 percent to 32 percent in the Wolverine State.
