Dems not budging from singular focus on Romney

{mosads}Democrats have been repeatedly questioned in recent weeks about why their campaign efforts, talking points and Web videos have been squarely focused on Romney despite the ascent of Newt Gingrich, who is now ahead of Romney in most national polls.

That has led Romney and political observers to conclude that Democrats see a race against Romney as a more hazardous threat to a second Obama term than a race against Gingrich — a conclusion backed up by general-election polls matching Obama up with the GOP candidates.

Democrats have downplayed their focus on Romney, calling it a natural response to Romney’s attacks against Obama. But pressed to explain why Democrats have been missing in action against Gingrich and others, Wasserman Schultz vaulted back to Romney.

“Mitt Romney deserves the ire that we’ve been training on him,” she said.
