Perry to attend at least five more debates

GOP White House hopeful Rick Perry, whose ragged debate performances have been a liability, is vowing to attend at least five more debates after his team had earlier suggested he may beg off several upcoming contests.

A spokesman for the Texas governor told the Associated Press that Perry would attend the four debates currently scheduled in November and a December debate.

{mosads}Perry has acknowledged that he is not a strong debater, but the idea of ditching some contests was seen as a risky political gamble.

His uneven performances in the first few contests coincided with his drop in the polls after entering the race in August atop the field, although he turned in a feistier performance at an October 18 debate in Las Vegas.

Perry acknowledged again Friday that his debating skills are a work in progress. “Shoot, I may get to be a good debater before this is all over,” he said in New Hampshire, according to AP.
