Paul, Trump hit the links

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) went golfing with business magnate Donald Trump on Saturday.

{mosads}The libertarian-leaning senator and reality television star hit the links in Palm Beach, Fla., at Trump International, the two announced on Twitter.

In a tweet, Trump said the outing will be “both interesting and fun,” with Paul responding that he hoped Trump “brought his A game.”

The event was the first meeting between the two men, who have been talked about as potential 2016 presidential candidates. Both will speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference next week.

Paul has been actively hitting the circuit of political events as he prepares for a likely run, while Trump has flirted with a presidential run once again, after toying for months with one in 2012. Few observers expect that he’ll run for president. Most recently, he mulled a run for New York governor.

Paul is a favorite among libertarians and a number of Tea Party conservatives, some of whom also like Trump. If Paul runs and Trump doesn’t, support from the real estate developer could help the senator with fundraising.
