Jindal jokes, ‘I’m not white?’

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) is cracking jokes about a portrait of him mocked on Twitter for not looking like the 2016 presidential hopeful.

{mosads}“I’m not white?,” Jindal asked Monday at a briefing with reporters sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor when he was asked about the portrait.

“That’s a revelation. I will give you permission in every picture you run of me … you have my permission to put in a disclaimer that I’m not white,” he said.

The portrait in question became news after a picture of it was tweeted out by a Louisiana political blogger who incorrectly wrote that it was Jindal’s official portrait.

Jindal’s chief of staff later clarified that the portrait was on loan from a constituent, and accused the blogger of race baiting.

Jindal on Monday accused liberals of seeking to make an issue of his race.

“I think the left is devoid of ideas, and unfortunately this is what they’ve resorted to – name-calling, going back to dividing people by the color of their skin,” he said. “This is nonsense.”

Jindal said he hasn’t followed the Twitter controversy and doesn’t know who painted the controversial portrait.

“I didn’t read the tweets,” Jindal said. “I actually have a state to run. I have a day job. I have three kids at home that I help my wife raise.

“The painting is owned by a constituent,” he added. “I don’t think I’ve ever met the artist.”
