Jindal nabs former Romney aide

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) has landed the top communications aide to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, as he gears up for a potential presidential run in 2016.

{mosads}Gail Gitcho has joined the pro-Jindal super-PAC Believe Again, The Hill has confirmed. The news was first reported by CNN.

“Gail Gitcho is the single best communications professional working in Republican politics today, bar none,” Brad Todd, a strategist for Believe Again, said in a statement. “Her insight and guidance will be a great asset to our team.”

Gitcho also served as the communications director for the Republican Governors Association during the 2014 cycle, then headed by Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.), another possible 2016 hopeful. Jindal led the organization before Christie.

The Louisiana Republican was in Washington over the weekend touting his education reform proposals.

He has said he’s “taking a serious look” at running for president, but he’s buried in the polls right now. According to a recent Fox News poll, Jindal trails nine other candidates and took only 2 percent support.

Still, Jindal allies appear to be moving aggressively into the fold. His team rebranded his PAC last month, and Gitcho’s hire is evidence that the Louisiana governor intends to compete with other potential candidates in the race for top political staffers.
