As Hillary Clinton — one of the country’s most recognizable politicians — travels to Iowa to kick off her presidential campaign, she grabbed take-out at an Ohio Chipotle without anyone in the store realizing.
When The New York Times called the Chipotle in Maumee, Ohio, manager Charles Wright told the reporter that she must have been mistaken. But when he pulled the security-camera footage, he realized that the potential next leader of the free world stopped by for a chicken burrito bowl.
{mosads}”She has these dark glasses on,” Wright told the paper.
“She was just another lady.”
The security footage shows Clinton paying at the register with what looks to be her aide Huma Abedin standing behind her. Clinton is traveling with Abedin and another aide, Nick Merrill, to Iowa to start campaigning.
Wright said that he’s upset to have missed an opportunity to meet Clinton and added that employees are “kicking themselves right now.”
The incognito pit stop comes as Clinton launches her campaign with an emphasis on the “everyday voter.” She’s forgoing the typical blowout campaign kickoff speech and instead will meet with Iowa voters in much smaller settings.
“It isn’t about her; it isn’t about us,” an aide said during a conference call with reporters about the trip.
“It’s about everyday Iowans, their hopes their dreams and what they want in the future.”
