Already $40 million behind Rubio, report says

Just days after announcing a 2016 run for the White House, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has already received more than $40 million in donations, according to Reuters.

{mosads}Rubio has attended a series of fundraisers since the Monday announcement of his candidacy in Miami.

The 2016 presidential race is expected to bring unprecedented amounts of money to campaigns. Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) super PACs brought in $31 million in the first week after his campaign launch earlier April.

Rubio has had an active week since his big announcement. In the last few days, he called for a more aggressive stance toward Russia, noted he would attend a same-sex wedding despite his opposition to gay marriage, and mocked Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s trip to Chipotle.
