The author of a new book about Hillary and Bill Clinton’s finances has a new target in his sights: Jeb Bush, a likely Republican candidate for president.
Peter Schweizer, the author of Clinton Cash and a former fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution, has been looking into the former Florida governor’s financial dealings in and out of office.
{mosads}“What we’re doing is a drill-down investigation of Jeb’s finances similar to what we did with the Clintons in terms of looking at financial dealings, cronyism, who he’s been involved with,” Schweizer told Bloomberg Politics.
Schweizer and staff are reportedly looking into land deals Bush was involved in as well as deals that took place when Bush was governor.
Bush has yet to announce that he is running for president in 2016, but has been courting possible campaign donors for months.
The announcement that Schweizer will investigate Bush’s financial dealings comes as his book on the Clintons is being attacked by the left as a partisan volume.
The book alleges that foreign governments and businesses that donated to the Clinton Foundation or paid Bill Clinton for speaking appearances were given positive treatment by the State Department under Hillary Clinton.
The Clinton campaign and its allies say that the book is a hit job aimed at hobbling her nascent presidential campaign.
