Christie’s wife leaves investment firm
Mary Pat Christie, the wife of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), has resigned from her job at a New York-based investment firm as her husband mulls a 2016 bid, a source familiar with the situation confirmed Friday to The Hill.
Fox Business Network was the first to report the news that she had resigned her position as a managing director at the firm Angelo, Gordon & Co.
{mosads}“Mrs. Christie has decided to take a hiatus from her work in the finance world to spend more time with her family and young children,” a Christie spokesman said in a statement to Bloomberg.
If the GOP governor does run, Mary Pat Christie would not be the first candidate’s spouse to leave finance for the campaign trail. Heidi Cruz, the wife of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), took an unpaid leave from Goldman Sachs after he announced his campaign.
Christie said this week he would make an announcement about whether he was getting into the 2016 race in the coming months.
