NYT/CBS poll: Clinton has weathered criticism
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has weathered much of the criticism about her family’s finances and her ethics at the State Department, according to a new poll.
{mosads}Forty-eight percent of adults say Clinton is honest and trustworthy, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll — 6 percentage points more than in late March. Forty-five percent says she is not honest and trustworthy.
Sixty-five percent thinks she has strong qualities of leadership, and 31 percent believes she does not. In March, 57 percent believed she had strong leadership qualities.
The findings come after weeks of allegations that donors might have contributed to the Clinton Foundation to influence decisions made at Hillary Clinton’s State Department. But a majority of adults said they had heard not much or nothing at all about the Clinton Foundation.
Though 36 percent still view her unfavorably, her favorability rating has risen since March. Twenty-six percent viewed her favorably then, and 35 percent view her favorably now.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released on Monday found, however, that Clinton’s unfavorability rating had risen 6 percentage points, from 36 percent to 42 percent, amid recent controversies.
The Times/CBS poll had a sample of 1,027 adults and a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percentage points. It was conducted April 30 through May 3.
