Fiorina blasts ‘contradictory’ Clinton rally
GOP presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina on Monday chided Democratic rival Hillary Clinton’s first campaign rally as “deeply contradictory” and unabashedly liberal, but warned that Republicans must not “underestimate her.”
{mosads}“This is a speech, a long litany of left wing causes. I found it a deeply contradictory speech in a lot of ways,” Fiorina said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“She says she wants to campaign for all Americans and then throws every Republican out there under the bus. She talked about being a champion for the middle class and then proceeds to talk about a set of energy policies that will raise energy bills for the middle class. She talked about money and politics. She’s going to raise more of that money than anyone else.”
Fiorina and Clinton are both vying to be the first female president in American history, but are coming at that goal in completely different ways. Fiorina has never held elected office, having made her mark as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Until her announcement, she had little national exposure or name recognition and has started toward the back of the polls in favor of better-known names.
Clinton has served most of her entire professional life in the public eye as first lady, senator and secretary of State. She’s the current favorite for the Democratic nomination after failing to defeat then-Sen. Obama in 2008.
Fiorina has repeatedly criticized Clinton during the first few months of the campaign, needling Clinton for not granting interviews to reporters. Her campaign has even launched a micro-site called “Ready to Beat Hillary,” which includes a litany of criticisms against the former secretary of State.
But despite those attacks, Fiorina told “Morning Joe” that Republicans must not count her out.
“It was a good launch. It was a great rally,” she said.
“She actually took an interview from The Des Moines Register, so we should not underestimate her.”
