Report: Trump called breastfeeding mom ‘disgusting’
GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump once told a breastfeeding mother she was “disgusting” during a deposition in a real estate case, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
{mosads}The New York business mogul uttered the remark in testimony in 2011, the newspaper reported. It said that Trump had the verbal exchange with lawyer Elizabeth Beck amid two hours of legal wrangling over a failed Florida real estate project.
Beck asked for a medical break so she could pump breast milk for her then 3-month-old daughter, it reported.
“You’re disgusting,” Trump reportedly told the new mother when she took out a breast pump to highlight the issue’s urgency.
The New York Times said that Trump then left the room, halting his testimony for the day.
It added that he also called some of Beck’s legal questioning “very stupid” during the pair’s meeting.
Beck said on Wednesday that Trump’s behavior during their meeting shows he does not deserve to be in the Oval Office.
“What kind of leader would that be?” she asked on CNN’s “New Day.” “Is he going to behave that way when he’s negotiating treaties with China or Russia?”
“I think non-presidential is the least of what you could call his behavior that day,” Beck added.
Trump additionally said that home buyers who had forfeited their down payments in a building bearing his name were “very lucky,” given the project collapsed before the 2008 financial crisis.
“Congratulate your clients,” Trump told Beck and her husband Jared Beck, also her co-counsel.
The Becks alleged that their clients lost tens of thousands apiece by investing in Trump’s real estate property.
