Trump: ‘World would unite if I were the leader’
Donald Trump said Thursday that he would unite the world should he become president, downplaying his penchant for controversy during a trip to Scotland.
“I think that I would be a great uniter. I think that I would have great diplomatic skills,” Trump said when asked by a local reporter about his past incendiary remarks.
“I think that I would be able to get along with people very well. I’ve had a great success in my life. I think the world would unite if I were the leader of the United States,” Trump added.
Trump told reporters gathered at his Turnberry golf course that he would “get along very well” with Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as Chinese citizens.
The real estate tycoon has been a magnet for controversy since announcing his White House bid in mid-June. He currently sits atop several recent polls heading into next week’s first GOP-sanctioned presidential debate.
