Ex-adviser: Trump a ‘great supporter of women’
A former top adviser to Donald Trump is praising the GOP presidential candidate, calling him a “great supporter of women.”
{mosads}Roger Stone said during an interview Thursday morning on CNN’s “New Day” that the outspoken billionaire has a history of promoting female causes in his business dealings.
“Trump is a great supporter of women in the marketplace,” Stone said.
“Trump has the size and boldness to be the leader we need,” he said. “He’s making the transition from being a pop culture figure to the leading candidate for the Republican nomination next year.
“That will trump any of this other nonsense,” Stone quipped in response to criticism of Trump’s past comments about women.
Trump sparked outrage with his criticism of Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly last week.
The New York business mogul said of Kelly following their confrontation during a GOP presidential debate on Aug. 6: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
Stone charged on Thursday that Trump is rising above the controversy by sticking with his unorthodox brand of politics.
“People view him as independent,” he said of Trump. “You can’t buy Donald Trump.
“It explains why these numbers aren’t just big — they’re huge,” Stone added of Trump’s polling results. “It speaks to the fact voters are fed up with the system. They think it’s rigged against the average person.”
Reports emerged last weekend that Stone, then one of Trump’s major political advisers, was leaving his campaign.
Trump has since said that Stone was fired, while the strategist maintains he resigned instead.
Stone refused further comment on Thursday, adding only that he is still “a strong supporter of Donald Trump.”
“I think he’s the only one who can bring real change to politics.”
