Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is refusing to attack Donald Trump, because he may one day need the business mogul’s endorsement.

“Why should I attack him? Donald Trump may be the guy that I’m going to look to for support when I get the nomination,” Huckabee said on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom” Thursday.

Huckabee also advised the GOP primary field to treat each other more like teammates than opponents.

“There’s no way it makes any sense to attack somebody else on the ballot,” Huckabee said. “We need to see ourselves as members of the same team trying out for the same position.

“I think that Republicans have made big mistakes in the past by eating each other alive in the primary,” Huckabee continued.

Huckabee is at the Iowa State Fair today to speak at the Des Moine Register’s Soapbox.

Trump currently leads all candidates in Iowa with 22 percent support, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday. Huckabee places sixth in the field with 7 percent support.
