Ex-Dem rep: Clinton server probe unprecedented
Former Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.) said on Sunday that scrutiny of Hillary Clinton’s private email server is without parallel.
{mosads}“It is unprecedented,” she told host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday.” “Everyone knows that four former secretaries had personal email accounts.
“We all know that Hillary Clinton is held to a different standard,” Tauscher, who joined the State Department after resigning from Congress in 2009, said of the Democratic presidential candidate. “Hillary Clinton does not take national security lightly.”
“This is not a criminal investigation,” she added. “There’s no question about that. It’s dancing on the head of a pin and frankly partisan politics.”
Tauscher’s remarks come as Clinton faces increasing backlash over her use of a private server while at the State Department.
“Secretary Clinton has made it very clear that what was done for convenience has become anything besides convenient,” Tauscher said. “She has said mistakes were made.”
Clinton announced earlier this month that she was turning over her personal email server and its backup thumb drive to Justice Department investigators.
The former first lady’s support has slipped across multiple national polls amid the controversy.
