Draft Biden adviser: First Dem debate an ‘important’ step

A senior adviser for the Draft Biden super-PAC says Vice President Biden should take part in the first Democratic presidential debate, citing “tremendous” enthusiasm for a potential 2016 run.

{mosads}Josh Alcorn said on Wednesday that appearing in the Oct. 13 event in Las Vegas would help Biden capitalize on the enthusiasm surrounding a potential Oval Office bid.

“I think the important thing is that he is on the debate stage in October,” he told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“The enthusiasm we have seen is simply tremendous,” Alcorn added. “A lot of people want to see him on the debate stage in October.”

Rumors are circulating that Biden is seriously considering a third presidential campaign during the next election cycle.

Alcorn said on Wednesday that launching a White House run is a serious feat that requires intense self-reflection beforehand.

“He’s had a front-row seat to the demands that the presidency puts on a family,” he said.

“It’s our job at Draft Biden to give him the space he needs,” Alcorn said, adding that he hopes Biden runs.

“I’m not sure there are any significant obstacles,” he said.

Alcorn’s remarks come as Biden plans a speech on America’s higher-education system at Miami Dade College Wednesday afternoon.

The vice president is also booked for a stop at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee event at a private residence in Florida.
