Fiorina: Trump should sign no-third-party pledge
GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said on Thursday that 2016 rival Donald Trump should sign a pledge ruling out a third-party White House run.
“I certainly think that Donald Trump should sign a pledge,” she said on CNN’s “New Day.” “I certainly will.”
Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Republican National Committee (RNC) is circulating a document asking the party’s 2016 contenders to forgo a third-party campaign should they lose the GOP primary.
Fiorina argued on Thursday that the outspoken billionaire’s appeal is bolstered by the excess attention he garners from journalists.
“Frankly, the people who ask me about Donald Trump are the media and not the voters,” Fiorina said.
Fiorina added on Thursday that she is remaining neutral in the spat between Trump and former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) over which language is spoken on the 2016 campaign trail.
“I think Donald Trump and Jeb Bush are going at it as front-runners are going to do,” she said. “I think this is what politics are about.”
“I admire the fact that Jeb Bush is multi-lingual,” she added. “I also think that English is the official language of the United States.”
Trump, the current GOP front-runner, attacked Bush on Tuesday afternoon for speaking Spanish in an appeal for Hispanic voters.
Bush has countered that Trump’s criticism shows he is an exclusionary candidate.
