Clinton on Trump: ‘I would love to debate him’
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said Thursday that she would like to debate Donald Trump if he wins the GOP presidential nomination.
“We hear from candidates on the other side about turning back the clock on women’s rights. And there is one particular candidate who just seems to delight in insulting women every chance he gets,” Clinton said during a speech she delivered in Columbus, Ohio.
{mosads}”I have to say, if he emerges, I would love to debate him,” she added.
While not mentioning Trump by name, Clinton’s comments come after the celebrity real estate tycoon claimed earlier Thursday on CNN and Fox that he was merely referring to GOP presidential rival, former businesswoman Carly Fiorina’s “persona” when remarking in a new interview about her face.
“Look at that face!” Trump was quoted as saying in the Rolling Stone feature published on Wednesday. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?” Trump asked.
Fiorina responded in a Fox News interview on Wednesday night, suggesting she may be “getting under his skin a little bit because I am climbing in the polls.”
Clinton has repeatedly bashed several GOP candidates on women’s issues, and her remarks Thursday came during a speech aimed at mobilizing female voters.
The former first lady spoke of issues such as childcare, abortion and the minimum wage, according to multiple reports.
