Mark Cuban on Trump: ‘I would crush him’
Mark Cuban says that if he were running for president in 2016 he could beat fellow billionaire TV personality Donald Trump, the GOP presidential front-runner.
“I get asked every day. It’s a fun idea to toss around,” Cuban said when asked in an email exchange with CNBC published Monday about whether he would ever run for president.
“If I ran as a Dem, I know I could beat Hillary Clinton. And if it was me vs. Trump, I would crush him. No doubt about it,” the Dallas Mavericks owner added.
The CNBC story said that Cuban’s platform would focus on issues such as income inequality, college debt, taxes, cybersecurity and equities markets.
A Politico story also published Monday said Cuban was considering running for office, with the billionaire saying of Trump, “I love the fact he has changed the game.”
Following the stories, Cuban reportedly told Business Insider he was “not at all” serious about a presidential bid and was having fun during the Mavericks’ offseason.
Trump, who has skyrocketed to the top of a crowded field of GOP candidates since announcing his campaign in mid-June, is set to hold a rally late Monday in Dallas.
Trump thanked Cuban after the NBA mogul expressed excitement on Twitter ahead of Trump’s appearance at the American Airlines Center, where his Mavericks play:
Thanks Mark, will be fun. https://t.co/hzlkPLebET
