Rand on Trump: Voters tiring of that ‘buffoon’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said on Thursday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is exhausting Americans with his bombastic rhetoric.

{mosads}“I think America’s tired of it, the sort of sophomoric jibes,” Paul said on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom.”

“Nobody in America wants some sort of buffoon that insults women and calls them ugly,” he said. “Nobody wants that.”

“The first time people hear that, some people will laugh at the sophomoric jokes as they have for a few months now,” Paul added. “But I think the laughter is over and now it’s become almost pitiful.”

Paul argued on Thursday that he finds Trump’s criticism of their fellow GOP presidential contender Carly Fiorina’s appearance especially distasteful.

“His insult to Carly Fiorina was just way over-the-top,” he said of Trump’s taunts about Fiorina’s face earlier this month. “I think people are ready to talk about issues.”

Paul and Trump clashed at the start of last night’s Republican presidential debate, with Trump arguing that Paul did not deserve a place on the main stage because of his low poll numbers.

The Kentucky lawmaker charged on Thursday he is making progress with voters by challenging Trump’s credentials at every turn, adding that the debate “is really going to reshuffle the pack.”
