Trump: I’m not getting out

Brash billionaire Donald Trump insisted Tuesday that he was nowhere near ending his 2016 White House bid, despite slipping slightly in some polls.

{mosads}”Not even a thought, not even 1 percent of the thought,” Trump said during a phone interview broadcast on CNN’s “New Day.”

“Why would I get out?” Trump asked, pointing out that he is still leading polls for the Republican presidential nomination. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Trump has suggested in several interviews that he may end his White House bid if he dropped into the low single digits, like several other candidates in the field.

“The media is so dishonest, it’s so disgusting,” Trump said of how his remarks were interpreted in coverage of his campaign. “I’m not getting out. I’m going to win.”

Immediately following the interview, Trump retweeted two supporters who called CNN’s Chris Cuomo and his questions “pathetic.”

Trump, who has led in the polls for more than two months, saw his lead shrink in the early-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire in polling released Sunday.

The businessman saw his 16-point lead over his nearest rival get cut to 5 points in New Hampshire, according to NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polling.

He is also leading by just 5 points in Iowa, besting retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson there 24 to 19 percent, compared to a 7-point lead last month.
