Bush likes a few things about Trump
Jeb Bush said Friday that he likes some things about Republican presidential rival Donald Trump.
“I admire the fact that he’s politically incorrect. I think we’re a little too uptight as a nation,” Bush said during an interview on “CBS This Morning.”
{mosads}”I admire the fact that he doesn’t feel embarrassed about his wealth,” Bush continued.
After a few moments (“I’m running out of things…”), Bush added that he thinks Trump has “a great family.”
The former Florida governor has struggled to gain ground on Trump and others in the polls, despite weeks of knocking the front-runner.
His remarks Friday came after he was asked whether he was “sick and tired” of Trump and the attention the celebrity real estate tycoon is drawing.
“These are serious times. I think you need a person who has the temperament and the leadership skills to fix the things that are broken and do it with passion and conviction, but also have the skills to lead,” Bush said.
“Over the long haul, I think that’s the lane I’m going to stay in, and I believe I’m going to be effective at doing it. I don’t know about Donald Trump’s views of leadership because he talks about himself the whole time rather than what he would do,” he added.
Bush downplayed his position in the race after a pair of debates.
“We’re just starting,” Bush said.
“I know I have to go tell the Jeb story. People know me as George’s boy and George’s brother, they don’t know that I was an effective, conservative governor that disrupted the old order in Florida,” he added.
