Iowa poll: Trump most ego-driven
Iowa Republicans view Donald Trump as the most-ego-driving GOP presidential candidate, according to a new Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll of personality strengths and weaknesses.
{mosads}The poll, released Sunday morning, found that 78 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers who cited a candidate said Trump is the most ego-driven.
The outspoken real estate mogul was also cited as the GOP candidate best able to bring about real change (33 percent) and the most “in over his or her head” (24 percent).
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton was cited as the most-ego-driven candidate among likely Democratic caucus participants, with 33 percent.
Clinton, with 57 percent, and Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who is surging among Iowa Republicans, were seen as most electable. Twenty seven percent of likely GOP caucus-goers picked Carson in that category.
Carson was also selected as the GOP candidate who is most pragmatic (17 percent), most presidential (24 percent), and the “most trusted to have his or her finger on the nuclear button” (26 percent).
The Iowa Poll, taken Oct. 16-19, has a 4.9 percent margin of error. Pollsters surveyed 401 likely Republican and 402 likely Democratic caucus-goers.
