Trump says he won’t go after Carson at debate

Donald Trump says he won’t go out of his way to attack fellow GOP primary rival Ben Carson at Tuesday night’s debate.

{mosads}“No, not at all,” Trump responded to a question on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. “We’ll see what happens. It’ll be loose, we’ll be very flexible. I have no idea what’s going to happen, but it’ll be interesting.”

Several reports have called into question the veracity of accounts in Ben Carson’s biography, such as his claim that he attempted to stab one of his classmates when he was 14.

Trump said Carson’s violent past may make voters think twice about voting for the retired neurosurgeon.

“You know, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on over here — you hit somebody in the face with a lock, you go after your mother with a hammer, and you’re trying to justify that yes you did them, and that’s supposed to make you credible,” the businessman said.

“It’s a very strange situation,” he added.

Trump dismissed polls showing voters view him unfavorably, pointing to national surveys that show him ahead of Carson in the Republican primary.

He also said he would beat Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in a general election.

The top eight GOP primary contestants will square off in the fourth Republican primary debate Tuesday night on Fox Business Network.
