Fox News poll: Cruz up by 2 points in Iowa
There is a tight battle among top-tier Republican presidential candidates in Iowa.
{mosads}Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) edges out current national front-runner Donald Trump, garnering 28 percent support among likely caucusgoers in the state to Trump’s 26 percent, according to a new Fox News poll released Sunday morning.
Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) gets 13 percent of support while Ben Carson sits at 10 percent.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) each hold 5 percent.
When the results are narrowed to Republicans who say they will definitely attend the caucuses, Cruz’s lead expands to 7 points — grabbing a 32 to 25 percent lead over Trump.
Carson and Rubio sit tied at 12 percent.
But when Iowans are asked who is most likely to defeat leading Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, Trump easily carries the day, with 32 percent support versus Cruz’s 18 percent.
Rubio gets 14 percent and Carson only 6 percent when asked about a matchup with Clinton.
The poll, conducted Dec. 7–10, has a margin of error of 4.5 points.
