Florida Dems hit Rubio on finances
The Florida Democratic Party is knocking Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) finances one day before the last GOP presidential debate of 2015.
{mosads}The state released a Web video on Monday that highlights Rubio’s use of a Republican Party of Florida credit card while serving as a state lawmaker.
The video, titled “The Rubio Card,” markets a fake credit card, mocking the Republican White House hopeful’s spending and use of the state GOP card for personal expenses.
“You’re a politician on the go, and you’ve got a lot of expenses. Sure, you could use your personal credit card, but you need something a little more … nefarious,” the salesperson in the video says. “What you need is the Rubio Card. This is your opportunity to be as financially reckless and irresponsible as Marco Rubio.”
The video continues, “So, apply today! There’s no credit check, no application, and absolutely no credibility. You don’t even need to show up for your job! Because why be ethical, when you can be Marco Rubio?”
At the end of the video, the Florida Democratic Party also took aim at Rubio’s voting record on Capitol Hill and Senate attendance, saying the card “cannot be used” on women’s health, same-sex marriage, immigration reform, and “doing the actual work of a U.S. senator.”
“How can Marco Rubio expect Americans to trust him with the nation’s finances when he has proven unable to manage his own throughout his entire career?” Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Allison Tant asked in a statement.
Rubio has been climbing in recent polls, both nationally and in early-voting states. He currently sits in third place among the GOP field with 13.3 percent, according to a RealClearPolitics average of national polls.
