Pataki says he’s still raising money for campaign

LAS VEGAS — Former New York Gov. George Pataki claims he is still asking donors for money despite scoring zero percent in national polls of the GOP presidential race.

{mosads}”I have a fundraiser tomorrow in San Francisco,” Pataki told The Hill after his appearance in the undercard debate here at The Venetian hotel.

Asked whether he thinks donors will come to his fundraiser, Pataki said, “Yeah! Yeah! Shock!”

But asked whether he was on track and had sound finances, Pataki, who has barely enough money in his campaign account to meet basic expenses, said, “No. I’m an honest guy. I think we could be doing a lot better.”

Pataki said the good thing about his campaign was that it was “bare bones” from the beginning so he would not have to lay off any staffers like other campaigns. He said he writes most of his own tweets.

Polling experts have written off Pataki’s candidacy, but he says he is sticking in the race until people can vote in the primary elections in February.
