Christie: If your eyes are glazed over, that’s what Senate is like

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ripped endless debates in the U.S. Senate to take a shot at the three Republican senators vying with him for the GOP presidential nomination.

{mosads}“Listen, I want to talk to the audience at home for a second,” Christie said at Tuesday’s debate in Las Vegas following a rift between Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Rand Paul (Ky.) and Marco Rubio (Fla.).

“If your eyes are glazed over like mine, this is what it’s like to be on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Endless debate about how many angels fit on the head of a pin for people who have never had to make a consequential decision in the executive position.”

Paul, Rubio and Cruz were arguing over the National Security Agency’s (NSA) surveillance programs and immigration. Cruz and Paul both attacked Rubio, the only one of the three to support a comprehensive immigration reform bill and the NSA programs. 

Christie, who has defended the NSA programs, touted his experience as a U.S. attorney as a reason he’d be a strong commander in chief.

“The fact is for seven years I had to make these decisions after 9/11,” he said. “Make a decision about how to proceed forward or pull back, whether to use actionable intelligence or not to, and yet they continue to debate about this bill in the subcommittee no one in America cares about. They care about whether we’re going to have a president who actually knows what they’re doing.”
