Carson assails ‘political class’: I’ve had a lot of experience building things
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson touted his past experiences during Tuesday night’s GOP presidential debate, arguing that the candidates who are not politicians are still viable to be commander in chief.
“There’s a false narrative that only the political class has the wisdom and the ability to be commander in chief,” Carson said during Tuesday’s GOP presidential debate on CNN. “But if you go back and you study the design of our country, it’s really designed for the citizen statesman.”
{mosads}Carson continued, “I’ve had a lot of experience building things, organizing things,” citing his national scholarship program.
“I don’t do a lot of talking. I do a lot of doing,” Carson added. “The fact of the matter is, look and see what I’ve done and that speaks volumes about strength.”
Amid recent terrorist attacks, national security has taken center stage and Carson has been struggling to display his knowledge on this topic.
He’s been floundering in recent polls, but has sought to quell concerns, hiring a national security adviser who formerly worked as a top aide for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
