Jeb to Trump: ‘Happy New Year, chaos candidate’

Jeb Bush is closing out 2015 by challenging GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s integrity as a conservative.

“In 2015, Trump was unhinged, liberal [and] dishonest,” reads a new online ad from Bush’s presidential campaign.

{mosads}“Happy New Year, chaos candidate,” it adds, resurrecting Bush’s description of Trump during the fifth GOP debate, in Las Vegas, earlier this month.

The new clip recaps what the Bush campaign calls Trump’s top five missteps this year, as a rock version of “Auld Lang Syne” plays in the background.

It first mocks Trump’s vagueness about his favorite part of the Bible during a television interview.

“I wouldn’t want to get into it as to me, that’s very personal,” he said, adding that he is “probably equal” on preferring the Old and New Testaments.

The ad then knocks Trump for returning Russian President Vladimir Putin’s praise of him earlier this month.

“I welcome it, I think it’s great. I’m greatly honored by his statement [and] I think it’s terrific,” the billionaire said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The spot then mocks Trump’s ambiguity about the nuclear triad and his dismissal of intervention abroad against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The ad closes by picking Trump’s admission that he gets foreign policy advice by watching the Sunday news shows as his top gaffe of 2015.

“I watch the shows,” he told NBC host Chuck Todd earlier this year. “When you watch your show, and all the other shows, you have all the generals and certain other people that I like. “

On the trail, Bush and Trump are both campaigning in South Carolina, which holds the third GOP nominating contest of 2016. Bush has a meet-and-greet in Lexington and Trump plans to host a rally on Hilton Head Island.

South Carolina’s “first in the South” presidential primary is scheduled for Feb. 20.

Trump leads Bush by 31 points nationally, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of samplings.
