Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush says he loves his mother more than his father.
{mosads}“I get asked this all the time: ‘Well, are you like your brother? Are you like your dad?’ I know there’s a real fascination about this,” Bush told a crowd in New Hampshire unprompted, according to The New York Times.
“Let’s just — let me get this out of the way: I love my mother more than my dad.”
The former Florida governor also brushed off speculation about his relationships with his brother, former president George W. Bush, and father, former president George H.W. Bush.
“Put aside all the 41 and 43 — who you like, all that stuff that’s a People magazine kind of fascination,” he said.
“I’m blessed to be George and Barbara’s son, and I’m blessed to be George W.’s brother,” he continued.
“But the world we’re in today is dramatically different than 2000, when my brother got elected, and 2001, when the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon and the plane went down in Pennsylvania.”
Bush was later asked to compare himself to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a 2016 rival.
“Well, I think I’m much better looking,” he joked.
“Chris is a great guy,” he said, but added that his record as Florida governor was better than Christie’s.
“I don’t think he could give you a record of accomplishment that compares to that.”
