Trump contrasts Bergdahl swap with real estate deals
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump uses a new video to contrast the prisoner exchange involving Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl with his own real estate projects.
{mosads}After showing media footage of Bergdahl being traded for the so-called Taliban Five prisoners in 2014, the video, posted to the billionaire’s Instagram account Monday, cuts to images of Trump’s skyscrapers, a self-emblazoned airplane and a resort.
It also flashes an image of NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” which Trump hosted before launching his White House bid, as among his many “deals.”
“It’s time for a president who understands the art of the deal,” text reads in the video, alluding to Trump’s book of the same name.
Trump often invokes Bergdahl in his campaign speeches, calling him a “traitor.” Bergdahl was held by the Taliban after leaving his outpost in Afghanistan in 2009.
The latest salvo comes days after news emerged that Bergdahl’s lawyers are mulling calling the outspoken real estate mogul as a witness in the Army sergeant’s upcoming court-martial.
